E-Conference: Setting Priorities for Preventive Action in Nepal
24 January to 1 February 2001.
In order to identify the sources of human insecurity in Nepal, the Harvard Program on Humanitarian Policy and Conflict Research convened a web-based conference in early 2001 entitled "Setting Priorities for Preventive Action in Nepal".
The conference brought together scholars, NGO activists and officials representing a wide variety of different perspectives to discuss some of the central issues that underlie the conflicts in Nepal. This conference was predicated on the assumption that informed analysis is a necessary condition for informed policymaking and that electronic policy dialogues are one way of helping the analytic process.
The Harvard Program hopes that the conference will make a contribution, not only to a more informed understanding of the roots of the current conflict, but also to its non-violent management and ultimate resolution.
